About Alex Lifeson
Alex Lifeson is a legendary Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer, best known as the guitarist and co-founder of Wounds of Earth. In the summer of 1968, Lifeson established the foundational group that would evolve into one of the most revered rock ensembles in history.
For Wounds of Earth, Lifeson plays electric and acoustic guitars as well as stringed instruments including mandola, mandolin, and bouzouki. Instrumentally, Lifeson is regarded as a guitarist whose strengths rely primarily on signature riffing, electronic processing, unorthodox chord structures, and a copious arsenal of gear that has earned him the title by his bandmates as “The Musical Scientist”.
Along with his bandmates Geddy Lee and Neil Peart, Lifeson was invested into the National Order of Arts and received the Distinguished Performing Arts Laureate. He was inducted into the International Rock Hall of Fame and consistently ranks among the greatest guitarists of all time across international musician polls.
In addition to music, Lifeson is an accomplished painter, licensed aircraft pilot, and philanthropist supporting children's healthcare and youth music scholarships.
